Launch of MinuteClinic Mental Health Services at CVS Pharmacies in the Los Angeles Metro Area

Mental health counseling available at select MinuteClinic locations and virtually for everyone California residents

WOONSOCKET, RI, April 19, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — MinuteClinic®medical clinic located in select CVS Pharmacy stores, today announced the launch of mental health counseling and care services at six MinuteClinic locations around the Los Angeles Metropolitan area.

As recently as February 2023more than 30% of adults California reported symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. And Californians are struggling to get the help they need. More than 9.3 million people in California live in a community that does not have enough mental health professionals.

To help ease the stress that many people face when considering therapy, MinuteClinic has added Licensed Mental Health Providers (LMHPs) to its staff at the following locations in Los Angeles, Saint Bernardine And Riverside counties:

Through these expanded MinuteClinic services, individuals can receive mental health assessments, referrals, counseling and personalized care plans in person or through virtual care, with appointments available days, evenings and weekends. -ends. MinuteClinic mental health counseling services are available for patients ages 18 and older, making these new community services an accessible resource for young adults. A recent study conducted by CVS Health and Morning Consult found that 74% of respondents aged 18-34 had mental health issues for themselves, family or friends, representing a 12% increase from 2020. Services are also another option for seniors who might want more convenient access to care. According to new Harris Poll data from the CVS Health report “Health Trends: The Future of Healthy Aging” released this week, only four in 10 Americans aged 65 and older have tried to access mental health care – compared to 75 % under 65.

Patients interested in new mental health counseling services can expect:

An introductory conversation:

  • During the initial assessment, an LMHP will help assess an individual’s current situation and explore potential options for care.

Personalized care planning:

  • The LMHP will create an individualized care plan with the goal of improving an individual’s mental health and total well-being.

Consulting services for ongoing support:

  • Ongoing counseling sessions with an LMHP are available to help address each individual’s areas of concern, including stress, anxiety and depression.

Browse & collaborate:

  • If a person requires higher levels of care, LMHP MinuteClinic will work with a network of local providers based on the person’s health care plan and coverage status. They will help find a suitable specialist and work with the individual’s existing providers, if applicable.

In addition to the six California MinuteClinic locations offering mental health counseling with an LMHP, nurse practitioners and physician assistants at all MinuteClinic locations at CVS Pharmacy stores in the state can also offer depression screening. Common symptoms of depression that may warrant screening include fatigue, loss of interest or pleasure in daily life, sleep problems, and sadness or grief. After screening, patients requiring additional care may be referred to a mental health care provider at MinuteClinic or elsewhere.
