Denny's launches series of national mental health and wellness summits

The event features notable experts in the fields of medicine, nutrition and education

SPARTANBURG, SC, April 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — As part of a national effort to raise awareness and offer expert advice, Denny’s is launching a series of summits focused on how businesses and individuals can better manage and improve their mental health and their well-being.

The first summit takes place on Saturday April 22Since 8:30 am1:00 PM ESTat the HPAC Theater in USC– Upstate, 170 Gramling Drive, Spartanburg, South Carolina The summit will be free to the public and attendees can participate in person or virtually.

Now is the time to reflect on how we can fully engage in all facets of our lives, including the workplace.

The keynote speaker for the summit is Dr. Daniel E. Dawessenior vice president for global health and executive director of the Institute of Global Health Equity at Meharry Medical College. Dawes will discuss the importance of addressing equity in mental health and the way forward to achieve a healthier society. Other nationally recognized panelists include:

  • dr. Shaneeta Johnsonsurgeon, clinician, educator and researcher at Morehouse School of Medicine and Senior Fellow in Global Health Equity at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute
  • dr. Monique Maia board-certified and licensed family physician better known as the “doctor in the kitchen”

Nationally recognized journalist Roland S. Martin will host two panels, “Mindful Eating”, which will address the link between diet and well-being, and “Wellness at the Workplace”, which focuses on mental health in the workplace.

A second mental health summit will be offered from 8:30 am1:00 p.m. local time on October 102023, at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.
