In the Netflix documentary, Lewis, 26, talks about his ongoing battle with anxiety and being a hypochondriac.

Hypochondriasis causes sufferers to experience extreme anxiety about their health, including worry about being or becoming seriously ill.

“I’ve always been a hypochondriac,” the singer said. “I was obsessed with like, if something’s wrong with me, I’m like, ‘F**k, I’m dying’.

“I went to a therapist and she was like, ‘You don’t think it has anything to do with your grandmother and aunt both dying when you were about three or four? , in one year.”

After showing images of Lewis as a young child playing with his family members, his mother and father Mark revealed the tragic events.

“Pat was Carol’s sister,” Mark began. “She killed herself.”

Lewis added: “I was there and saw a lot of stuff and stuff. We were outside the flat the night my dad came upstairs and found her.”

Bursting into tears and struggling to speak, her mother went on to explain, “You feel so guilty, that you couldn’t stop it.

“But I think you could drive yourself absolutely crazy with that. You have to cut to the chase and think, ‘Well, you can’t stop somebody’.

“You can try to help, give them as much help and support as you can, but unless they want to help themselves there’s not much you can do.

“I still feel guilty about it, I still feel like, uh, I have to stop.”

Carol walked away from the camera and walked through the door before being heard sobbing off camera, as her husband came to comfort her.

“They’re talking about Pat,” Carol could be heard saying to Mark between tears as the family gathered around her.

Lewis later revealed he wrote his hit song Before You Go about his aunt – when he also struggled to keep his emotions down.

It comes after Lewis’ heartbroken father was seen bursting into tears elsewhere in the program after experiencing Tourette’s symptoms on stage.

The Scottish star suffered from uncontrollable tics while performing his song Fade at his very first show at Wembley in 2020.

Lewis had then composed new material for his second album, after rising to fame with his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.

And the stress of trying to repeat her success caused her symptoms to spiral, with tics appearing on stage.

His condition had not yet been diagnosed and Lewis’ father, Mark, is seen frustrated and struggling to come to terms with what is happening.

Mark says of the moment Lewis asks the band to stop playing midway through his performance: “He stops singing. So I scampered off, I ran down the stairs. And the crowd went quiet.”

With tears in his eyes, Mark continued: “I’m screaming, ‘Go!’ And I’m breaking my heart, and he’s here, and it’s bad.”

Lewis also recalled what was going through his head, saying: “That tic got out of control and it was awful.

“It was absolutely awful. I started getting these pressures on things in my head.
